Kazi IT
Actual scenario of Kazi IT This is an awareness post about Kazi IT, collected from the Iba-ites group. I m reposting it here for your convenience. I'm Mazhar; did my graduation from BBA 20th; worked in Kazi IT for a year and left the job in last July. It's not a rant post, but a collection of questions I often get asked about Kazi IT. And I'm writing this from what I've seen and experienced there.
1. What type of IT business is Kazi IT doing?
Ans: They don't have any form of IT business. Mike Kazi has a field service company in the USA; providing services like grass cut, cleaning, and small household repairing. The back office support of that organization is provided from Bangladesh; that too against the regulations set by the Federal Housing Association. That's the core business. Other than this, they don't have any other consultancy or ITES service.
2. Then why do they call it IT center?
Ans: Only to get the tax rebates offered by Bangladesh Govt to the emerging IT industry. If using the computer for day to day operation means IT business, then Banks would be IT firms too...
3. Who is Mike Kazi?
Ans: The actual name is Kazi Gias. Mike Kazi is a made up name; to make it sound American. Strangely he uses this name everywhere in Bangladesh, whereas in the USA his passport, credit card or even his business is registered under Kazi Gias. Coincidence? Also, he uses the name Mike Kazi to sign the papers and I.D cards of the employees. But surprisingly, the appointment letters are always signed by one of the HR executives; named Joyanto.
4. How is the pay?
Ans: Pay is high. But that comes at a cost. Every month, 10% of your salary gets axed in the name of savings fund; something you won't get back until 3 years of employment. 10% of my salary is quite a lot of money. Interestingly, so far only a handful of employees have completed 3 years; none of them got that savings fund back...
5. How is the leave policy?
Ans: You'll accumulate 1 yearly leave for each month of service after completing 6 months; that's total of 12 yearly leaves. If you are sick and absent for a day; say goodbye to 1 day worth of gross pay. No casual leave; or any other paid leave. Work is 6 days a week. No day off on Bangladeshi national holidays; not even on Eid or Pohela Boishakh; or Independence day...
6. How is the employee turnover rate?
Ans: Here is some recent data. So far, 11 Territory Managers joined for pretty lucrative salary. 4 of them quitted, 6 got fired; only 1 of them is still there. I, along with 6 other MTOs quitted in the last 4 months. And almost every month a few analysts, executives get fired. People get fired for reasons like “getting into MBA alongside work”, “sickness over prolonged period” and even for “not staying extra after work hour”. As a result, employee retention rate is very low. That's the reason why Kazi IT is posting job circulars all year round; but despite such heavy recruiting, the number of employees hasn't grown over the last 1 year. I can prove the authenticity of this information from multiple sources.. So this is pretty much it. My best wishes for you all.....
